Your purpose

Gen 1:26, Gen 3:8-10, Luke 19:10

Have you heard this phrase ‘we were made for fellowship with God’ or ‘we were made to have a relationship with God’? Well, I have and do preach it and believe it. I sat on my bed last night, and said to the Lord that I have heard it said, and I have heard prophecies about it, but where in the bible is it explicitly said?

As I sat there, the Holy Spirit began to bring scriptures to my mind; He unveiled the Word and brought such clarity to me concerning my questions that I could not contain, but cried  my heart out to the Lord saying “Lord please save me”. For the first time I saw how man has missed his purpose. I saw how many Christians although they are in Christ yet are not fully with him yet. Let me explain.

Jesus said ‘the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost’. The first question to ask is, lost from what and why do we need to be saved ?

Well, in the beginning before man was deceived, it was just us and God. We did not know of anything else. It was man – Godward. No distraction in this union. It was a pure union, there was nothing like living a life without God or not knowing God or not caring about God. Or even still being an atheist or agnostic. Man knew God, had fellowship with Him, and was His only companion. That was God’s plan for man. A union with man where man knows Him, relates with Him, cannot live without Him etc.

The second question to answer is ‘ where is man and what does he need to be saved from?

Man is separated from God. By  this I mean, he doesn’t care about God, doesn’t relate with Him, thinks He does not exist or is not quite sure about Him. Man is filled with a lot of distractions – his vision is focused on things such as the Internet, phone, other people, food, nature, and anything you can think off. Everything except God.

Jesus said He came to seek and to save that which was lost. With your minds eye, you can see how lost man is from the original purpose of God for man. The pre-ordained man – Godward relationship is now man – manward or man – idolward (focusing on all other things apart from God). This is what Jesus came to save us from. From our idols and to turn our vision and focus back to God. For that is the purpose of man – to fellowship with God without any distractions, no matter what they may be.

Will you return to your purpose?
