Luke 7:36-37 ‘And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that [Jesus] sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment’
She was a sinner but she had an alabaster box of ointment. She had something in her hands.
It is amazing how even though she was a sinner, Jesus didn’t say something like “leave me alone you sinful woman”, when she was pouring the ointment on Him, and “how dare you enter into My space and touch Me knowing that I am a holy man and you know you are not supposed to touch Me?”
Why? Psalm 100:4 says ’Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, [and] into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, [and] bless His name’.
Matt 6:9 ‘After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.’
Bible says we should enter into His gates with thanksgiving and that is exactly what this woman did. She came worshiping and honouring Him. Many times, when I begin to pray, I am so burdened with my sins that I am not focused on Christ. His protocol is worship Me, give Me thanks, declare My glory. This sinful woman knew the protocol, she followed it and was declared free. Today, come to Christ with your worship, concentrate on Him and you will be cleansed from your sins. Heb 4:16 says come boldly to the throne of grace and you shall obtain mercy and that is exactly what happened to this woman. She came boldly, she followed the protocol and Jesus ‘…turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest Me no water for My feet: but she hath washed My feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest Me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss My feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed My feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
48 And He said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace. (Luke 7:44- KJV)
What a blessing. Let us all learn from this sinful woman and learn to make worship our main thing in life.
Let’s pray 🙏
Father I love You and praise Your holy name. You are the only God and Yours is all the glory. Please help me to be a true worshipper from today and I ask you to also come into my heart and be my Lord in Jesus name I pray.
Amen 🙏
