John 6:9
“9. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
The Bible says that Jesus ever lives to make intercession for us ( Heb 7:25) so when the five loaves and the two fishes were given to him, he took it and gave thanks to God. The results were ‘they all ate until they were full”. (V11)
Normally we feel we have so little in our hands for God to use. We wish we could pray for long hours, we feel God will appreciate our singing if our voices were nice, we feel we can not tell one person God loves him/her or give a tract to someone because it is just one. But in the story of the talent , the master wanted everyone to use what they had but the one who had received one talent thought it was not good enough so he hid it “ he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money”.(Matthew 25:18, KJV)
Does the Lord want us to keep back the little that we have in our hands ? No, he wants us to use it and not to think about how small they are because it increases as we use it . In John 6:10-11, we see how our little gifts shall increase as we use it .
10 “Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) 11 Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted.”
And we also get to know the mind of Christ about the little in our hands in Matthew 25: 26 -30 “His lord answered and said unto him, [Thou] wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and [then] at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give [it] unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. “
What you have in your hand is good, even if it is to give a cup of water to someone for them to feel that someone cares for them, it is good. If you can say a little prayer for someone for 30seconds, do not despise it, it is good. If you can write a post to encourage someone, it is good. Remember that God gave you what you have in your hand and you will account for it. What you have in your hand is good and it will increase as you use it.
Let’s pray
Father thank you for what I have in my hand. Help me to use it for your glory and help me to discover other gifts you have placed in my hands that I do not yet know , In Jesus’s name.
Amen.
