John 14:2-6
2 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.
I was reading this chapter and like Thomas I was like “No Lord , I don’t know where you are going and I don’t know how to get there”. This is where you still want the Holy Spirit to reitirate what He has taught you before or just want to engage with the Lord. Thomas said “we don’t know where you are going to and we also don’t know how to get there”. I believe if you are a Christian, you surely know where Jesus was going and definitely you know how to get there or at least you know John 3:16.
The questions we are going to look in the above verses are:
- Where are you going to?
- How do we get there?
Jesus made us aware that he was going to the father so that one is answered. “Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God”. John 13:3
How do we get to where He is? He answered in V6 – I am the way.
Who is Jesus? He is the word of God.
“ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1, KJV)
So if he says he is the way, He is implying that the word is the way. In Matt 7:13- Jesus spoke about the narrow way and the broad way. The narrow road that Jesus spoke about is Him. I am the way means the word is the way. If you want to make it to life, obey the word of God. Matt 19:16- 17 says ‘16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments’.
Only obedience to the word who is Jesus will make us make it to heaven. What has He said to do in every situation?
Once we stay with the word, we are on the way. We don’t have to go anywhere else – just staying on the narrow road will surely get us to where He is.
‘I am the way’.

Father thank you for giving us Jesus. Thank you for His blood that cleanses us from our sins and make us whole. We ask that you help us to stay on the narrow road which will lead us to life.
