“Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing. We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night. “
John 21: 3 TLB
I feel sorry for the disciples for fishing all night and catching nothing. Many of us have failed at certain projects, business ventures, marriages, relationships, etc, and are so discouraged. But the good news is, the Lord is looking and is very near. He sometimes appears like he did in this situation – “At dawn the disciples saw Jesus standing on the beach, but they couldn’t see who he was.” (John 21:4) And other times, we have to call out to him like the disciples did when Jesus was alseep in the boat “23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to [him], and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. (Matthew 8:23-27 KJV)
In both instances, the Lord did something about their situation. The Lord has said that when we call on him, he will answer ‘when they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them.” (Psalm 91:15)
No matter what is going on in your life, always know that “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18)
The Lord is near, and he sees.
Let’s pray 🙏
Father, thank you that your nearness to us is our good. We ask you to help and remind us to call upon you in trouble because we know that you will answer us. This we ask in Jesus’s name, Amen.
