“Soon Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests were there”.
Many people are looking for salvation or trying to get close to God, but have not seen anyone like them either serving the Lord or being accepted, and are as such not motivated to serve the Lord. Such people usually reason that they will not be accepted, and until they see someone in a similar situation to theirs serving the Lord, will not follow on to serve the Lord.
The bible says Levi held a banquet in his house in Jesus’ honor and MANY tax collectors were there. Wow! This had not happened before. You ordinarily wouldn’t see tax collectors with religious people, but due to the fact that Levi had obeyed the call by the Lord, many also came to hear Jesus.
What is your “tribe”? What is your background? They are the people that God will most likely send you to; and those people are waiting for your obedience.
People without a similar background to yours, or from another “tribe” will not understand you, whereas those in your “tribe” are more likely to not only understand, but also to receive your message.
But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “why do you eat and drink with such scum?” (Imagine that.)
Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor – sick people do. I have come to call sinners to turn from their sins, not to spend my time with those who think they are already good enough”. (Luke 5:30-32)
The Lord is still doing this today. Answer your call and your tribe will follow you to serve God.
He identifies with everyone’s tribe, He accepts every tribe, He loves every tribe. John 3:16 says he loves the whole the world.

Father in Jesus’ name we open our hearts to you for healing and mending of our broken heartedness, and from the rejection we have received from religious people and the world system. We ask Jesus to be Lord in our hearts and also that you help us to live a life that pleases you .
