“All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God’s paths to follow our own……” Isaiah 53:6 TLB
Is it not true that we have left God’s path and followed our own? Let’s Look in our lives and those around us and we will see that what the word is saying is true. There is murder, theft, hatred and the list goes on.
What makes us feel guilty? Is it not when we do things that we know we are not supposed to do; or when we realise we have done something that we didn’t know was a sin and did it in our ignorance?
What do we do with our guilt? We carry it on our shoulders and it becomes a heavy load. Some commit suicide out of guilt, others experience depression. Yet still, others engage in many more grievous things to overcome that guilt even though it never leaves.
If we know Christ, we repent and are forgiven. The truth about guilt is that Christ has already paid the price of our sins. The last part of the verse above says “Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all”. Woooooow, we were not in step with God, did things our own way, but the payment for our sins, have been borne by Christ already.
What a relief! What are we doing with the guilt that we are carrying? What about the shame of our sins? It is time to exchange it for the Love of God. Remember the prodigal son? Inspite of his blunders, the father welcomed him. The father’s arms are open to receive us too.
Thank you Lord Jesus for the exchange.
