Luke 19:5 TLB
“When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. ” Zacchaeus!” He said. “Quick, come down! For I must be a guest in your home today.”
The Lord knows how to locate every one He wants to save. John 19:1 says “Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town”. He could have gone through another town and He could have used another route; but He chose this route.
Who got saved on this Journey? Zacchaeus. This story reminds me of the story about the woman at the well in John 4:4 – “And He must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh He to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well: [and] it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water… …..25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he].
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”
Salvation stories are nice to hear. Sometimes God uses the ordinary things of life to save us. Very unassuming things like an invitation to a service, a tract, a radio broadcast or maybe a message that catches our attention on the internet, or even a casual conversation with a friend can lead to our salvation. It may look like an ordinary something but it was all planned by God. Mine was very dramatic 😂 and I think it was because of my stubbornness, God had to use something strange to draw my attention. At the end of it all, we always see God at work, and how he has loved and pursued us till we finally got saved. We need to pay attention to the voice that is pointing us to God. It could be the Lord’s calling. There will be a time that ‘time will be no more’ Rev 10:6 .
“7Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation……(Hebrews 3:7, KJV)
Let’s pray 🙏
Thank you father for your love for me. Thank you that you thought of me and made Jesus bear the punishment for my sins on the cross. Please have mercy on me, wash me with the blood of Jesus and make me clean, fill my heart with your love and peace .
Amen 🙏
