Lord, Lord
Matt 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
How can we avoid this?
By obeying his word. V23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.” (John 14:23-24 ESV)
We cannot call Jesus ‘Lord’ when we don’t keep His word as Jesus has told us.
How can we know the will of God? By reading His word .
Psalm 119:9 says “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Reading and studying the word of God will help us to avoid being rebuked when our souls are required from us.
Luke 6: 46 says “So why do you call me
‘Lord,’ when you won’t obey me?” To call Jesus Lord means we obey Him in everything that we do. It is submission to His will.
May the Lord help us to make him our Lord indeed .
