Fear is a negative emotion caused by the threat of harm, pain or danger. We live in fear in many areas of our lives and become it’s captive. We are not able to step out to fulfill God’s calling and fulfill our mandate on earth because of Fear! Jesus told his disciples on different occasions to “fear not” and He is saying the same thing to us.
Psalm 37:1 says “the Lord is my light and salvation – so why should I be afraid”. The Lord can shine His light on anything that we are afraid of, so that we can be relieved from that fear; this is however based on the condition that we bring Him our fears. In Psalm 34:4 David said “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” When we know who Christ is to us, fear will leave us. When in darkness regarding a situation, instead of allowing fear to fill our hearts and determine the next course of action, let’s come to Christ who is light and allow His light to shine. We will receive insight and be pointed to the right direction. The Lord is not only the Light, but also our salvation. He will show us what to do and will save us from danger also. “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 NLT.
