Heart Desires

Rom 1:24- “So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.”

Be careful what your heart desires, because God can let us have them but the end might be shameful. There are things that if I had my own way, I would have chosen and I think I would have been much happier (deception 😂😂😂), but I was directed to take another path, which was difficult but much more peaceful in the end.

Sometimes, we might be walking with God but our hearts are far from Him – like Lot’s wife. She was at a place of safety, but her heart was in the world she was taken from; and because of that, she could not continue with the journey she was on. “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26, KJV).

There was another group of people who God rescued from slavery, and you would have thought they will ran very fast and go very far, and get hooked to their rescuer. This was however not the case, as they also desired the things of the world they were being rescued from “13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. (Psalms 106:13, KJV)

This is the condition that many of us find ourselves. We have been rescued and walking with God but there are things in our hearts that we desire, and know we need to sacrifice. If we don’t however make those sacrifices, the Lord will allow us to have them but with “leanness of souls.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.”( Proverbs 4:23, KJV)
