That verse, Matthew 6:33, is part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. It says:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Here’s what it means in context:
- “Seek first the Kingdom of God” → Put God’s rule, will, and values above everything else in your life. It means prioritizing God’s ways—His justice, mercy, love, and truth—over material worries or self-interest.
- “And his righteousness” → Live in alignment with God’s character—choosing what is right, just, and faithful according to His standards, not just human ones.
- “And all these things will be added to you” → Earlier in the chapter (vv. 25–32), Jesus was teaching people not to worry about food, clothing, or daily needs. He’s reassuring them: if you trust God and make Him your priority, He will provide what you need to live.
Father, help me to seek your kingdom first.
Amen!
