A Christian’s identity is who they are because of Jesus Christ, not merely what they do. According to the Bible, becoming a Christian means receiving a new identity given by God.

1. A Child of God

A Christian is adopted into God’s family.

“Yet to all who did receive Him… He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
Your identity is rooted in belonging—you are loved, chosen, and cared for by God as a Father.

2. In Christ

The phrase “in Christ” defines Christian identity.

“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
This means your past does not define you; your life is now shaped by Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.

3. Forgiven and Made Righteous

A Christian is no longer defined by sin but by grace.

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
You stand forgiven and accepted before God.

4. Loved and Secure

Your identity is anchored in God’s unchanging love.

“Nothing… will be able to separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:38–39)

5. A New Purpose

A Christian is called to reflect Christ.

“We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” (Ephesians 2:10)

In summary:
A Christian’s identity is loved, forgiven, redeemed, and transformed in Christ, living with purpose and hope—not to earn God’s love, but because they already have it.

Let’s pray 🙏
