The intercessors

John 2:1-4
‘The next day Jesus’ mother was a guest at a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration.
The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother spoke to him about the problem. “They have no more wine,” she told him.
“How does that concern you and me? ” Jesus asked. “My time has not yet come.”

Mary saw that the wine supply ran out and instantly told Jesus about it. The situation did not really concern her, but she acted on what she had seen. What a blessing!
She didn’t inform or let others see she was speaking to Jesus on their behalf. She was burdened with what she saw, and interceded. In Jeremiah 22;30 we read “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Well, blessed be Mary and the many like her who see a need and stand in the gap for God’s hand. What about the many who see and don’t do anything?

Many people’s blessing and breakthrough are tied to our obedience to God’s call to stand in the gap. Our disobedience means, many people will not be healed, many people will not be delivered, many people will not be saved and the list goes on. The story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25 – comes to mind. The Samaritan was able to save a life and help to restore battered man because he went out of his way to intervene. There are many things around us that if we can pray about, will cause a change in things around us. Let us begin to pray and stand in the gap for others.
