Yes he does. He sees everything and he prompts us to change our ways by his Holy Spirit who lives in us.

Jer 23:23-24 says “ Am I a God who is only in one place and cannot see what they are doing? 24 Can anyone hide from me? Am I not everywhere in all of heaven and earth?”

An example of God responding to a negative response to a situation is seen in the story of Cain and Abel.

Gen 4: 3-6 TLB
“ At harvest time Cain brought the Lord a gift of his farm produce, 4 and Abel brought the fatty cuts of meat from his best lambs, and presented them to the Lord. And the Lord accepted Abel’s offering, 5 but not Cain’s. This made Cain both dejected and very angry, and his face grew dark with fury.
6 “Why are you angry?” the Lord asked him. “Why is your face so dark with rage? 7 It can be bright with joy if you will do what you should! But if you refuse to obey, watch out. Sin is waiting to attack you, longing to destroy you. But you can conquer it!”

The Lord cares about the way we respond to things. Here Abel’s offering is accepted because he did what ‘he should’ another versions says ‘respond in the right way.’

Cain is angry and feels dejected and the Lord comes to him to ask why he was angry; and tells him to respond the right way and he will be accepted if not then sin is at the door waiting to attack and destroy him.

How many times have we done things the wrong way but yet still want the right response; and if it doesn’t happen the way we expect it to be, we get angry, become bitter, hatred fills our hearts etc the list goes on.

Some people are jealous because God uses others and not them. Others are so rude and unkind to others and expect to be respected and treated kindly and if it doesn’t happen they get angry and uncontrollable.

The Lord is asking a question “why are you so angry? Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you respond in the right way. But if you refuse to respond correctly, then watch out! Sin is waiting to attack and destroy you, and you must subdue it.” Gen 4:6-7 TLB

Responding the right way is doing what God has said we should do in every situation.

We cannot expect to be forgiven if we have not forgiven others. Matt 6:14
We cannot expect to have friends if we are not friendly – Prov 18:24
We cannot expect to live in peace if we are always overcoming evil with evil. Rom 12:21 etc
The Lord’s heart in every situation is that we respond the right way so that sin will not attack and destroy us. The choice is always ours.

Let’s pray
Father thank you for your love for us. Thank you for Jesus who is our great shepherd who gave his life for us. Help us by your Spirit to walk and do your will in every situation.

Amen.
